Ching Ming Festival Sees 2071 Million Daily Port Travelers

Ching Ming Festival Sees 2071 Million Daily Port Travelers

During this year's Ching Ming Festival holiday, border inspection agencies across the nation have facilitated the smooth passage of travelers, with an impressive total of 6.212 million individuals crossing the borders. This averages to 2.071 million travelers daily, reflecting a substantial increase of 19.7% compared to the same period last year.

Among the travelers, 2.76 million were visitors from mainland China, marking a 14.0% rise from last year. Additionally, 2.755 million people from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan participated in the festivities, seeing an even more significant increase of 21.5%. Meanwhile, 697,000 foreign travelers also entered and exited the country, exhibiting a notable growth of 39.5%.

The border authorities also recorded the inspection of 271,000 means of transport, including ships, trains, and vehicles, which corresponds to a 15.7% increase over the previous year. Such measures underscore the effectiveness of the agencies in managing increased passenger flow effectively.

In accordance with the directives from the State Administration of Immigration, all border inspection offices were mobilized to provide support during this peak travel period. They also took proactive steps to predict and communicate expected passenger flows, assisting travelers in planning their itineraries more efficiently.

Specific measures included the establishment of special inspection channels exclusively for residents from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, as well as overseas Chinese returning to honor their ancestors during this culturally significant time. This catered to the needs of elderly travelers and those requiring additional assistance.

Furthermore, close collaboration with various governmental departments was undertaken to direct and manage peak travel times effectively. This approach ensured that customs clearance processes at ports remained efficient and organized throughout the holiday.

The overall experience during the Ching Ming Festival was marked by safety, convenience, and structured organization, which significantly contributed to the positive travel experience for millions of participants. The concerted efforts of border inspection agencies played a crucial role in maintaining this order.
