From May 18 to 20, 2025, more than 100 high-level international students from 19 universities gathered at Zhejiang University, located in the picturesque Yangtze River Delta region, for a series of enriching academic exchanges. Participating institutions included prestigious universities such as Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Nanjing University, and the University of Science and Technology of China.
The agenda for the exchange included a variety of activities designed to enhance the academic literacy of international graduate students. These activities featured special presentations by international student mentors, academic reports tailored for the participants, thematic academic salons, and an academic poster exhibition.
Among the notable presentations were contributions from four mentors who provided guidance on scientific research methodologies and career development for international students. Professors from leading educational institutions, including Lu Gaopeng from the University of Science and Technology of China, Li Bin from Zhejiang University, Yosuke Mizuno from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Lu Yizhong from the China Academy of Art, shared their expertise.
The academic exchange workshops were organized into four parallel branches, focusing on different fields: science and technology, medicine, agriculture, life and environment, and humanities and social sciences. This structure allowed international students to engage in focused discussions and exchange insights related to their areas of specialism.
In addition to formal presentations, the event featured a thematic academic salon. This segment encouraged students to discuss pertinent topics such as intercultural collaboration in scientific research, the advantages and challenges of conducting research in China, leveraging AI for improved research efficiency, and strategic academic career planning.
An important aspect of the event was the International Student Academic Poster Exhibition, where participants showcased their research achievements through visually engaging displays. This platform not only highlighted their scholarly contributions but also demonstrated the high standards of academic training available within the Yangtze River Delta region.
The event was designed to align with the attributes and interests of high-level international students, ensuring active participation from all attendees. Through these exchanges, students were able to glean insights from their mentors' experiences, articulate their academic accomplishments, and enhance their understanding of innovative academic practices.
The academic exchanges further facilitated camaraderie and mutual learning among emerging scholars, fostering an environment of collaborative growth and recognition. Feedback from participants underscored the success of the event and the beneficial interactions that took place.
Beyond academic pursuits, international students had the opportunity to experience the vibrant modernity of Hangzhou, visiting local high-tech enterprises to witness firsthand the contemporary advancements reflective of China's new quality productivity.
