Conference Held for National Education Digitalization Strategy 2025

On March 28, 2025, marking the third anniversary of the National Smart Education Platform's launch, the Ministry of Education convened a deployment meeting geared towards the 2025 National Education Digitalization Strategy Action. Under the theme 'Artificial Intelligence and Education Transformation', participants engaged in discussions surrounding the 'Outline Plan for Building a Strong Education Country (2024-2035)', aiming to ensure a high-quality execution of a three-year action plan designed to enhance the national smart education platform significantly.

During the conference, Huai Jinpeng, Party Secretary and Minister of Education, underscored the critical importance that General Secretary Xi Jinping places on the integration of digitalization in education and the role of artificial intelligence. Huai urged attendees to deeply internalize the essence of Xi’s address, emphasizing the need for a scientific approach to integrate artificial intelligence within educational reforms. He also highlighted the necessity of focusing on moral education while fostering a comprehensive skill set to prepare students for the evolving educational landscape.

In highlighting the achievements since the inauguration of the national education digitization strategy, Huai Jinpeng noted that the national smart education platform has risen to become the world's largest high-quality digital education resource platform. He accentuated the importance of strategic content development and the establishment of a robust interaction mechanism between educational resource construction and utilization, advocating for a high-quality national resource center focused on public education services and ongoing resource dynamism.

The conference also addressed the establishment of a national education service center aimed at streamlining processes for teachers and students alike. Key initiatives discussed included the enhancement of service offerings for cross-provincial student transfers and the facilitation of qualification maintenance for educators. Additionally, the need for a lifelong education platform was stressed, focusing on vocational training and skills development to boost overall societal employability through the implementation of a 'Double Thousand' plan.

Emphasis on the responsible integration of artificial intelligence within the educational framework was a prevalent theme among the discussions. Huai Jinpeng advocated for reinforced data security and best practices for using intelligent educational tools at all learning levels. Higher education institutions were called upon to expand their curriculum offerings in artificial intelligence and to prioritize related talent development to support China's modernization goals.

The conference featured a reading sharing session connected to the third season of the Reading Campaign. In this session, Wang Jiayi distributed a selection of notable themed books, aiming to cultivate moral values among primary and secondary school students. Teacher representatives discussed innovative practices that blend digital and traditional reading methodologies, thereby promoting a 'Book Fragrance Atmosphere' initiative to enhance literacy.

Furthermore, a detailed introduction of the 2.0 smart version of the National Smart Education Platform was provided, alongside an inaugural lecture about how artificial intelligence can drive educational transformation. Representatives from various educational departments shared their insights into the practical applications of the National Smart Education Platform in driving quality education.

The conference was held in a hybrid format, accommodating both in-person and online attendees. Officials from the Ministry of Education, members of the Education Digitalization Expert Advisory Committee, as well as a diverse representation of schools and educators, participated actively in enhancing collaborative efforts towards the digitalization of education.
