10.896 Million People Traveled During May 1st Holiday

During the recent "May 1st" holiday, approximately 10.896 million people traveled in and out of China, marking a significant increase of 28.7% compared to the same period last year. This surge in travel culminated on May 3, which saw the highest single-day volume with 2.297 million entries and exits.

Among the total, 5.778 million movements involved mainland residents, reflecting a robust 21.2% rise from last year's holiday. Travelers from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan accounted for 4.03 million, representing a remarkable 37.1% growth over the prior year, while foreign visitors increased by 43.1%, totaling 1.115 million. Notably, 380,000 of these foreigners entered visa-free, which is an impressive 72.7% increase compared to the same timeframe last year.

This record volume of travel activated substantial logistical operations across border inspection agencies nationwide. A total of 456,000 means of transport, comprising ships, trains, and vehicles, were processed during this peak period, indicating an 18.1% uptick from last year.

In accordance with the strategic guidance from the State Administration of Immigration, border inspection authorities undertook heightened measures to enhance operational efficiency. They implemented the policy known as "two announcements and one reminder" to ensure that passengers were well-informed of travel conditions.

The authorities also utilized data-driven predictions to inform the public about expected passenger flows, encouraging travelers to plan their itineraries in a timely manner. This proactive approach facilitated smoother customs clearance for Chinese citizens and maximized overall efficiency.

Collaboration among various departments was instrumental in managing the flow of passengers and ensuring transportation support during the holiday's peak periods. Overall, the execution of these measures resulted in a secure, efficient, and well-organized travel experience across all the ports of the country during the holiday.
