On June 6, 2025, Zhejiang University proudly hosted the International Student Admissions Promotion Ambassador Achievement Exhibition Event at the Postgraduate Education Complex's Lecture Hall 107 in Zijingang Campus. This event celebrated the remarkable accomplishments of international student admissions ambassadors in enhancing the university's global presence.
The event was part of the 2025 campaign, which allowed participation through independent registration or college recommendations. This format encouraged significant involvement from international students and alumni. Following an initial evaluation by the School of International Education, ten standout teams, both self-registered and college-recommended, progressed to the on-site presentation phase.
Distinguished guests at the event included Liu Dantong, Vice Dean of the School of International Education, along with judges from different departments including Xia Ying from the School of Economics and representatives from the Joint College with the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. The panel evaluated presentations based on criteria including outreach effectiveness, innovative engagement methods, and performance during the defense.
Vice Dean Liu Dantong delivered an opening speech, highlighting the school’s recent successes in attracting international students. He emphasized the crucial role of admissions ambassadors in promoting the “Study in Zhejiang University” initiative, which aims to bolster the institution's global reputation.
The presentations showcased the students' creativity and dedication. For instance, the Malaysian team organized a combination of online and offline seminars, as well as interactive Q&A sessions via the Xiaohongshu platform, to assist prospective applicants. Additionally, Nepali student BIKASH Gyawali utilized platforms like YouTube and Instagram to present life at Zhejiang University, garnering nearly 800,000 views and creating an application guide for applicants.
After the defense segment, WOO YET HA, the honorary president of the Zhejiang University Alumni Association in Malaysia, offered insights from his years of experience in admissions promotion. His suggestions aimed at optimizing outreach efforts based on the characteristics of local student demographics.
Special guest Wang Kexin, part of the International Student Admissions Promotion Lecturer Group, provided valuable feedback on the team's performances and shared methodologies derived from international educational exhibitions, which will aid the participating teams in future endeavors.
Following stringent evaluations, the event announced its winners, featuring two first prize recipients along with four second and four third prize winners. The judges, alongside faculty members, presented honorary certificates to commend the success of those teams and individuals.
This exhibition not only highlighted innovative strategies in international student enrollment but also amalgamated the ideas of current students and alumni, invigorating the “Study in Zhejiang University” brand. Looking ahead, the university plans to broaden its admissions outreach and welcome more exceptional students to its academic community.
The final list of the 2025 Zhejiang University International Student Admissions Promotion Ambassadors will be disclosed post-review of department-recommended candidates, so all are encouraged to stay tuned for the announcement.
