5.907 Million Travelers Moved During Dragon Boat Festival

This year's Dragon Boat Festival holiday witnessed a significant movement of travelers, with border inspection agencies recording a total of 5.907 million crossings by both Chinese and foreign personnel. This figure translates to an average of 1.969 million visits per day, reflecting a 2.7% increase compared to the same period last year.

The peak day for customs clearance was June 1, during which 2,086,000 people crossed through entry and exit points. Notably, the implementation of a visa-free policy benefited 231,000 foreign visitors, marking a substantial increase of 59.4% from the previous year.

In addition to passenger movements, a total of 263,000 means of transportation—including ships, trains, and vehicles—were inspected during the holiday, illustrating a 10.5% rise in activity in comparison to last year's statistics.

The State Administration of Immigration ensured a well-coordinated approach for the management of border inspections. Authorities across the nation adhered to a protocol known as 'two announcements and one reminder' to effectively manage passenger flows at ports.

This protocol allowed for timely predictions and publication of inbound and outbound passenger flow data, urging travelers to plan their itineraries wisely to avoid congestion.

Efforts to organize the process included opening additional inspection channels and enforcing a maximum customs clearance duration of 30 minutes for Chinese citizens.

Collaboration with various departments was vital to facilitate smooth guidance for passenger flows and offer traffic support, especially during peak periods.
